Los Angeles, CA (July 16, 2004)–“SoundMoves To Stardom” is a free music contest offering unsigned artists a chance to be heard by top music industry professionals. The grand prize winner will get to track, mix and master 1 song at SoundMoves Recording Studios (a $4,800 value), 1,000 packaged CDs (a $850 value), plus a documentary video of the session (a $2,000 value).
This free contest is the brainchild of SoundMoves Recording Studios founder and engineer Michael Woodrum. And, it demonstrates how committed SoundMoves is to helping unsigned artists reach their potential. “I love working with local talent,” said Woodrum. “This contest could help someone get signed. And how cool would that be?”
SoundMoves is gathering local talent in one place to provide concentrated exposure. Entrants will each be allowed one submission. The submissions will then be narrowed down to 10 finalists. Then a select panel of judges–including producers, indie label execs, publishers and songwriters–will give a professional evaluation of each finalist at a “Listening Party” before choosing the winner.
“Our focus here is to help performers network with professionals in the music industry,” added Woodrum. “Our judges will be listening not only for the contest winner but for other talent as well, which can obviously lead to further possibilities even for the entrants who don’t win.” SoundMoves is in agreement with John Fry of Ardent Studios, who advised that, “Studios must return to their role as a provider of mentoring, guidance, and artist synergy. We must return to the business of building creative communities and interfacing with new channels of music marketing, promotion and distribution which will comprise the new record industry model.”
