Santa Monica, CA (January 11, 2006)–The creatives at TRUE Agency and Untitled Directors The Cronenweths called on Sovereign composer PJ Hanke to create a meditational, ambient musical score for their new Nissan commercial entitled “Smooth-UV.” The flowing, 30-second spot began airing nationwide last month.
This new Nissan spot, “Smooth-UV,” features a husband and wife pair in an urban setting floating along down a street. The music track begins very softly and then builds, as it is revealed that the couple is actually driving through the city in their Nissan Murano. “Introducing the world’s first Smooth-UV,” says the narrator, as the couple flies off into the city’s sunset. The spot concludes with the Nissan logo and end-tag.
“The agency’s executive creative director Christopher Davis is very musical,” noted Sovereign’s PJ Hanke. “He wanted the music for this project to ebb and flow with the energy of the car. And he did not want the track to break up the pace or disturb the flow of the couple floating down the street. I had created a few treatments for him, but he chose the music track that was created entirely with stretched and manipulated guitar tones. It created an ambient sound that fit just right with the images.”
Sovereign talents Hanke, sound designer Tim Gedemer and music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, with Katie Jones as executive producer, provide original music, sound design and music licensing for commercials, film and television.
