Corona, CA (April 9, 2009)–Sound Performance Lab has launched the Phonitor, a headphone monitoring amplifier.
According to SPL, with the Phonitor, headphones are now “a full alternative to monitoring speakers.” It offers new parameters such as crossfeed, speaker angle and center level.
Based on SPL’s 120-volt technology, the Phonitor is the flagship of headphone amps SPL refers to as “headphone monitoring amplifiers.” Inputs and outputs are XLR-connected.
The Phonitor is said to allow analytical headphone monitoring, like working with an acoustic magnifier but without external room influences, while also effecting the style of loudspeaker monitoring, forgoing the microscopic effect, but with room ambiance. Working with the magnifier effect on headphones, says the company, allows one to safely hearing clicks or similar defects, and helps in fine-tuning crossfades or judging tonal problems in individual tracks.
