Santa Ana, CA (April 26, 2004)–SRS Labs, Inc. has announced the immediate availability of their all-digital CSE-07D matrix encoder and CSD-07D decoder for professional studio production, mastering and broadcast environments. The company also announced the upcoming availability of the first professional SRS Circle Surround encoding software plug-in for Digidesign’s Pro Tools workstations.
Intended for use within a professional production environment, the CSE-07D and CSD-07D are DSP-based and utilize the most advanced components currently available. The CSE-07D encoder has AES/EBU inputs and also includes analog outputs. They are completely stable, without the need for calibration or alignment, and give audio professionals the ability to encode and decode up to 6.1 channels of discrete digital program material for transmission over any consumer stereo medium, such as the existing SD and HD broadcast infrastructure. Circle Surround material is also ideal for two-channel media such as compact discs, VHS tapes, and PC and console games.
The new SRS Circle Surround TDM Pro software plug-in features an SRS Circle Surround encoder and a decoder for monitoring surround mixes, enabling Pro Tools users to offer matrix-encoded surround sound final mixes to clients. The software will be available Q1 for approximately $795. The software is being distributed by Wave Distribution.
According to SRS Labs, the new software is the only plug-in capable of encoding up to 6.1 channels while delivering accurately steered, full-bandwidth stereo surround channels with superior center channel dialog isolation. In addition to broadcasting and post production, this new surround encoding tool is also well suited for production of 5.1 or 6.1 music content with delivery via industry standard compact discs.
