San Francisco, CA (October 31, 2006)–Following the recent acquisition of Sydec Audio Engineering, makers of the Soundscape product line, SSL is showing its continuing support for Soundscape customers with the release of its Console EQ and Filters Plug-in for the Soundscape DSP platform. SSL also announced the Soundscape EACM EQ|1 Plug-In. The EACM EQ|1 Plug-In is the first member of a brand-new plug-in family available only for Soundscape DSP-based audio workstation platforms. SSL released these plug-ins at the recent AES Convention in San Francisco.
SSL Software Product Manager Filip Saelen said, “This was a very logical first step for us. Soundscape customers have been asking for SSL plug-ins ever since the announcement of our involvement with Soundscape. Now, Soundscape customers can seamlessly incorporate SSL plug-ins into their production workflow.”
SSL’s Console EQ plug-in The Equalizer section is a classic, flexible four band parametric EQ. The plug-in includes two distinct SSL EQ flavors: one based on the SSL G series EQ and another based on the latest version of SSL’s legendary E series EQ. The plug-in includes high and low frequency shelving bands (which can be switched to peaking curves) and two overlapping bands with adjustable Q.
By default the SSL plug-in presents itself with the classic SSL console look and feel. For people who prefer to use a graphical representation of the EQ, an interactive display can be enabled with the EQ Graph button. The Filter Section of the plug-in includes a 12dB/Octave low pass filter and an 18dB/Octave high pass filter. The filters can be placed before or after the Equalizer Section.
Soundscape EACM EQ|1 plug-inSoundscape EACM plug-ins model the physical circuits of high-end analogue originals to bring their sonic characteristics to the Soundscape no-latency DSP platform. The Electro Acoustical Coefficient Modelling (EACM) engine was created by German developers Algorithmix GmbH, makers of algorithms for Mastering EQ’s and Restoration Tools. The Soundscape DSP-based audio workstation platform delivers the processing power required to run multiple instances of these complex 48BIT double precision algorithms.
SSL Software product manager Filip Saelen said, “Soundscape users now have exclusive access to a completely new approach to modelling analogue audio characteristics that provides impressive emulations of classic analogue hardware.”
The Equalizer section of the EACM EQ|1 Plug-In is a classic, flexible four band parametric EQ. The plug-in has a distinct tone, based on one of the classic Console EQ Sections from the 80’s. In this reincarnation, however, users have the added advantage of numeric setting display.
The Soundscape EACM EQ|1 Plug-In also features an interactive EQ display, which can be enabled with the EQ Graph button, for people who prefer to use a graphical representation of the EQ. The Soundscape EACM Plug-In Family is operated via four innovative systems–M-Touch, Rope-Tune, Quick-Fade, Quick-Type–that combine mouse, keyboard and scroll wheel to provide improved hands-on control.
Demo versions of both the Console EQ and Filters plug-in and the Soundscape EACM EQ|1 will be available on the Soundscape website at www.soundscape-audio.de, where the plug-ins can also be purchased. The Console EQ and Filters plug-in is $375 excl. tax, and the Soundscape EACM EQ|1 is $249 excl. tax.
