Mendota, MN (August 11, 2005)–A newly constructed Sanctuary has been built adjacent to the Church of St Peter, the oldest Catholic Church in Minnesota. Unsurprisingly, the church wanted to install an audio system that would best suit the facility and brought in specialist AVI Systems to handle the details. AVI, in turn, recommended a system anchored around Electro-Voice Xi loudspeakers and a host of other Telex gear.
The ceilings in the 650-seat Sanctuary are about 35-feet high, with two large purlins running down the center To get a better sense of the space, an EASE model was used to determine how loudspeakers would work with the architecture. In the end, AVI’s Ray Orieux oversaw the installation of two Xi-2123s and two Xi-1152s for the house mix, and two more Xi-1152s for a separate choir system. EV CPS 2.11 and 2.6 amplifiers power the system. At the other end of the scale, AVI installed 30 EVID C8.2 recessed ceiling speakers in the Church’s large foyer and Heritage center.
Also provided were eight channels of RE2 wireless, a number of RE97Tx headworn condenser microphones, a Polar Choice multi-pattern gooseneck, a pair of Midas Venice consoles and Klark Teknik EQs and DI boxes.
