Hamburg, Germany (February 2, 2005)–Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH has announced the appointment of a new managing director, Kazunori (Kaz) Kobayashi, who is responsible for all areas of Steinberg’s business worldwide effective January 22nd, 2005.
Joining Steinberg from the Yamaha Corporation, Kaz Kobayashi has many years of experience in the digital audio industry. He was previously general manager of Yamaha’s product strategy planning office for the pro audio and digital musical instruments division, where he oversaw Yamaha’s strategic unit responsible for long-term planning in the company’s activities in the pro audio field.
“I am very pleased to be appointed as managing director of the most successful and venerable brands in the digital audio industry,” he stated. “Together with the existing Steinberg management team, I will be taking the company forward to build an even stronger brand value for Steinberg, which will remain an independent company within the Yamaha organization,” he continued.

Yamaha Corporation announced a basic agreement to acquire all common stock of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH from Pinnacle Systems on December 21st 2004, and the transaction was closed on January 21st, 2005.
