San Francisco (September 29, 2004)–Steinberg, DTS, Genelec and SoundField have announced a series of surround seminars at the 117th AES Convention. Several seminars will be held daily in Room 100, Hall A at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, and will include special guest appearances by experienced engineers and producers working in surround production.
Presentations will be given by Rodney Orpheus from DTS Entertainment on various aspects of audio content delivery for music and film, including surround formats and technologies. Andrew Goldberg and Robert Palomäki of Genelec will offer valuable insights on speaker placement and room design for professional surround sound production environments.
Pieter Schillebeeckx from SoundField will present a technical overview of the company’s multi-capsule microphone systems and plug-ins, and how these are used in recording and post-production environments. For Steinberg, Fred Maher will be demonstrating the cutting-edge surround editing and mixing Nuendo technology used to produce The Crystal Method’s acclaimed DTS-ES 6.1 surround album, Legion Of Boom.
Each seminar will include live demonstrations and a Q&A session with the expert panel.
