Anaheim, CA (January 19 2004)–Last week at the NAMM Show, Steinberg Media Technologies announced Cubase System|4, the first in a series of products in the new Steinberg Media Solutions range. Cubase System|4 marries Steinberg’s Cubase SL 2.0 sequencer with its new MI4 USB audio interface at one low price, providing a cross-platform recording, editing, and mixing solution.
Cubase System|4, which will ship at $499.99 US MSRP in mid-February, builds on Steinberg’s 20-year history in audio production software, providing a full virtual music production studio in the shape of Cubase SL 2.0. Cubase SL offers Steinberg’s latest VST 2.3 audio engine, full latency compensation, a customizable mixer featuring FX return channels, professional automation and a range of VST effects and instruments.
Precision-engineered and built in Germany, the new MI4 USB audio/MIDI hardware offers some powerful features including 4 inputs and outputs, Hi-Z instrument input, and quality microphone preamps with selectable 48v phantom power. The MI4 USB audio/MIDI hardware also incorporates a 16-channel MIDI interface, S/PDIF digital I/O, effects inserts and much more.
“We’ve united our exclusive new audio/MIDI interface with Cubase SL, one of our well established professional sequencer products to form an integrated software and hardware solution,” said Arnd Kaiser, Steinberg senior product manager music technology. “On top of the pristine audio quality with recording at up to 24-bit 96 kHz and mixing at up to 32-bit floating point is outstanding versatility. Not only is it an ideal desktop recording and mixing package, but when used with a laptop computer provides an excellent mobile recording solution.”
Cubase System|4 heralds a new range of media production solutions, with other new products planned in the Steinberg Media Solutions range for release later in 2004. The Steinberg Media Solutions series will offer a range of packages meeting the needs of a variety of different production environments, from quality home recording through to professional recording studios.
