Dallas, TX (March 22, 2005)–Stephen Arnold Music has delivered two original music packages to client CNN Headline News for that network’s newly launched three-hour nightly Headline Prime programming block. The announcement was made by company founder/composer Stephen Arnold.
CNN Headline News’ new Headline Prime programming block marks the first time in the network’s 23 years on the air that it is making a break from airing straight newscasts. Headline Prime is comprised of three new one-hour shows, Showbiz Tonight (airing from 7-8 p.m.,) followed by a legal talk show Nancy Grace (8-9 p.m.) and Prime News Tonight, a more traditional news show (9-10 p.m.)
The 11 new music themes for Showbiz Tonight range from hip-hop to somber, covering a broad array of entertainment news. The 10 themes for “Prime News Tonight” are very sound design-driven, using a compressed and altered VO blended with the percussion rhythms. All music was composed in Stephen Arnold Music’s new recording studios in Santa Fe, NM, with final mixing done at their primary studios in Texas.
Regarding the new music, Bill Gavin, VP, programming and production, CNN Headline News (based in Atlanta, GA) said, “When we were preparing to launch our new Headline Prime programming block, we asked Stephen and his team to create a very distinctive package, a sound that would instantly brand the programming as something far different than our regular Headline News product…far different, in fact, than any other news programming. Stephen presented us with a package that broke into uncharted territory, heavy on sound design and telephonic voiceovers. In the end, we were thrilled with the energy, urgency and unique nature of the musical packages Stephen and his team created for the Headline Prime project and its individual shows, Showbiz Tonight and Prime News Tonight.”
