Sweetwater Hires 20 New Employees

Fort Wayne, IN (March 21, 2007)--Sweetwater has hired 20 new employees since the beginning of February, bringing its total employee count to 270. Nine new sales engineer positions were filled with recording professionals moving to Fort Wayne from out of state.

Fort Wayne, IN (March 21, 2007)--Sweetwater has hired 20 new employees since the beginning of February, bringing its total employee count to 270. Nine new sales engineer positions were filled with recording professionals moving to Fort Wayne from out of state.

"Sweetwater has expanded its work force by almost 30 percent in little more than a year, particularly with high-paying sales jobs, and will continue to grow for the foreseeable future," noted Sweetwater founder and president Chuck Surack. "Our job growth is directly related to overall growth in sales, which continues at a record pace."

Sweetwater is the fifth-largest music instrument and pro audio retailer in the world, according to Music Trades magazine, and one of the fastest-growing companies in northern Indiana. Among Sweetwater's new hires are:

Michael Mancini enjoys the singular honor of becoming Sweetwater's 100th Sales Engineer. He has been a recording engineer for over 25 years and joins the company from Las Vegas, Nevada. He has worked in a number of top studios in L.A. and served as engineer on hit records by Whitney Houston, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, George Benson, Natalie Cole, Lionel Richie, and Billy Joel, to name a few. He has 20 platinum or gold records to his credit, including "Through the Years" and "Endless Love" and is a graduate of the College of Recording Arts in Los Angeles.

Sales engineer Chris Lyles comes from Graham, Texas where he most recently acted as the worship pastor for the Oak Street Baptist Church, supervising a large program and a team of over 30 individuals. He is a graduate of Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.

Sales engineer Elijah Marlink is a recent graduate of Full Sail in Orlando, Florida and moves to Fort Wayne from his hometown of Holland, Michigan. His primary area of expertise is live sound.

Sales engineer Matt Emick is a recent graduate of Webster University in St. Louis where he earned a B.A. in Audio Production. After graduation Matt returned to his native Pennsylvania, where he was a freelance engineer in the Harrisburg area before joining Sweetwater. His hometown is New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania.

Sales engineer Simon Picazo has lived in Haiti, Alaska, Kentucky, Florida, and Kansas City, where he served for four years as a worship leader and sound engineer at the international House of Worship. He earned a B.A. in Business from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.

Sales engineer Phillip Trammel is from Shelby, North Carolina, where he worked for four years for the country's largest CD duplication house, EDC. He is a graduate of Full Sail, with a degree in Recording Arts, and is a studio owner and producer/engineer.

Sales engineer Alix Dacostagomez comes from Orlando, Florida, and holds a bachelor's degree from Full Sail in Recording Arts and Music Business. Most recently, he worked in the pro audio division at Guitar Center in Orlando.

Sales engineer Mark Brody hales from Lansing, Michigan, where he attended Lansing Community College studying Media Technology. He later moved to Australia and received a diploma from SAE in Melbourne in Music Technology. He returned to the States in 2006 and has since worked in the banking industry.

Sales engineer Matt Collins is from Royal, Illinois, and graduated with a B.A. in Music Business from Valparaiso University. After graduation, he moved to New York City as an assistant recording engineer at the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival.

Banner Kidd is Sweetwater's recording studio account executive. He served in that position 10 years ago and returns after working in radio station sales, production, and management.

Walt Fisher is service repair coordinator, a new position at Sweetwater. He is a Fort Wayne native and recent graduate of Ball State University where he has a B.S. in Marketing.

Alexander Davis joins Sweetwater's marketing team as a web designer. He is originally from Celina, Ohio, and has a degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Studio engineer Robert Correll is a recent graduate of the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio, and a freelance writer of "How to" computer books on many topics, including music technology. He is a graduate of the Air Force Academy and served in the Air Force for eight years as an intelligence officer. He is a Fort Wayne native.

Assistant distribution manager Mike Lennon has extensive experience in warehouse management, at both Sears and, most recently, Edy's Grand Ice. A staple on the Fort Wayne music scene for many years, he has a B.S. from Ball State in Business Administration.
