Fort Wayne, IN (December 23, 2005)–Music technology retailer Sweetwater has announced a new service for customers and visitors to the company’s website. Sweetwater.com now features a complete podcasting site-within-a-site entitled “Sweetwater Podcast Central.” Among the many features of the new podcasting site is a podcast directory where Sweetwater customers and visitors to Sweetwater.com can upload their podcasts. Sweetwater will host the uploaded podcasts, making them available for download to the public. The podcasts will be listed in the directory and hosted completely free of charge.
In addition to the free podcast directory and hosting, Sweetwater Podcast Central also contains a comprehensive step-by-step guide describing how to create podcasts written by respected technology expert and Sweetwater editorial director Mitch Gallagher, and a listing of useful podcasting software tools–many of them free downloads–as well as hardware items such as microphones, audio editing software, headphones, and computer audio interfaces, all specifically selected and recommended by Sweetwater for creating podcasts.
Sweetwater will also be uploading podcasts created by the company. These Sweetwater-produced podcasts will consist of interviews with manufacturers, product demonstrations, and “tips and tricks,” along with podcasts created by Sweetwater sales engineers on a wide variety of audio and music topics.
According to Chuck Surack, president and founder of Sweetwater, “Podcasting has emerged as one of the hottest technological trends, and we wanted to provide an easy, free way for our customers and the general public to take advantage of this new method for distributing their audio and video. We can’t wait to hear the music and other materials that are uploaded to Sweetwater Podcast Central.”
