New York (July 13, 2009)--Beginning with the 25th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, voting will be expanded to include members of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the Producers/Engineers Wing of the Recording Academy, SPARS, the Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.) and other professional organizations to be announced.

"This is one of the most important steps the TEC Awards has taken since its inception in 1985," says Hillel Resner, president of the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio, presenters of the awards. "While the Mix Foundation has always been an independent organization, voting has historically been limited to subscribers of Mix magazine. After the Foundation and the magazine parted company last fall, we felt it was important to expand the voting constituency and this is a big step in that direction."

Beginning mid-July, the participating organizations will send out emails to their members containing a link to a voter registration site administered by Broadjam.com, an independent music site that also conducts voting for the Country Music Awards. Registrants will receive a PIN enabling them to access a secure online ballot when voting begins in August,

"We at the AES are pleased to see the TEC Awards reach out to a wider constituency to ensure that the voting represents the most comprehensive range of knowledge and experience in professional audio," says Roger Furness, executive director of the Audio Engineering Society.

Nominations for TEC Awards in 16 categories of Technical Achievement (hardware and software) and nine categories of Creative Achievement (audio projects), are made by a panel of more than 100 industry veterans and will be announced simultaneously with the beginning of voter registration. The 25th Annual TEC Awards will be held the first night of the AES Convention at a location to be announced in mid-July.
