Oxfordshire, UK (August 7, 2006)–The Integrated Solutions Organisation (TISO) has reported that its product, The Whizzer, is experiencing continued sales success. The Whizzer is a transparent and cost-effective SSL console to DAW and hard-disk recorder interface. This “virtual tape machine” provides transport control from the SSL mix automation computer over any device that can chase timecode.
The Whizzer interfaces to the SSL E/G-Series machine control output, and feeds location data back to the console mix automation system.
George Gilbert of used SSL dealer Pro Serve Audio, recently supplied his seventh Whizzer, this time to Mark ‘Spike’ Stent for his home studio, who previously used The Whizzer in his room at Olympic Studios.
According to TISO’s MD, Simon van Zwanenberg, “Many owners or operators of analog SSL consoles are still employing otherwise redundant tape machines to provide timecode to sync their DAWs and SSLs. The Whizzer autolocate takes only 3 seconds to ‘wind back’ to the beginning of a 5-minute song. And it never spools off!”
Recent Whizzer purchasers include producer/engineer Hugh Padgham for his newly refitted ‘Sofa Sound’ control room at Stanley House Studios; production team Alan Moulder and Flood for their facility Assault & Battery; and the German broadcaster NordDeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) in Hamburg, to control a Tascam MX2424 from their SSL 4000G.
Hugh Padgham commented, “I try to use Pro Tools like a tape machine, a process only made possible by having The Whizzer in my SSL rack. I couldn’t do without it.”
In the European market, Pro Mediatools GmbH in Essen have been appointed distributors in German speaking territories. This has immediately provided results with a sale to rock producer Dieter Dierks for his studio DVDplus International.
TISO also engaged a designer to create a new stand-alone website for The Whizzer which went live at the beginning of the year. Check it out at: www.thewhizzer.com. The site includes full product documentation, manual for download, installation FAQs, etc.
Van Zwanenberg commented, “Our first year as manufacturer of The Whizzer in 2005 was fantastic–and the trend has definitely continued in 2006. Our sales have exceeded our original target and have proved the market’s need for this product.”
