Atlanta, GA (June 29, 2005)–At NAB in April, Fairlight announced the sale of three Dream Constellations to production house, R!OT Atlanta. Media Gear U.S., Fairlight’s North American distributor, supplied the sale, system integration and support, and the installation was recently completed. R!OT Atlanta just completed three new floating audio studios, each anchored by a Fairlight DREAM Constellation. “The nature of our business requires fast production timelines without compromising one stitch of quality for our customers,” said Buddy Hall, managing director of R!OT Atlanta. “The bottom line is workflow. The Fairlight DREAM Constellation enables us to work seamlessly throughout our three studios, recalling past sessions with speed and accuracy. Fairlight tools like MediaLink, Virtual Studio Runner and Pyxis allow us to further maximize our work output. The Fairlight system is true a workhorse.”
The Fairlight DREAM Constellation was built with the broadcast and commercial editor’s needs in mind. DREAM Constellation has the ability to edit the automation and audio simultaneously, enabling editors to move clips, tracks, ranges or entire projects with any previously written automation moves carried forward in place with the audio. DREAM Constellation offers up to 240 channels returned to up to 72 mix busses, with full 6-band EQ and Filtering and two-stage dynamics processing. This channel structure delivers into a multi-format bussing system, which allows simultaneous generation of multiple surround formats via the system’s unique buss reduction system.
The grouping and 3 dimensional panning system allows smooth and simple manipulation of the mix matrix, ensuring that even the most complex surround sound mixes can be accomplished with ease. With high-end automation and processing equal to any large-format digital desk, the DREAM Constellation stands apart from other consoles with the integration of a 96-track disk recorder and editor.
R!OT Atlanta partnered with both an acoustic specialist and a studio design firm to build three new, truly isolated floating suites. The suites, which just recently opened, are all acoustically accurate for 5.1 mixing and incorporate a full Fairlight solution to meet all of their audio for picture needs. Combined with the DREAM Constellations at R!OT is Fairlight’s MediaLink, which provides networking capabilities for all three mixing suites; Virtual Studio Runner, the file manager program that handles conversion and exchange; and Pyxis, Fairlight’s non-linear video editing and recording system that also integrates with the DREAM Constellation.
“R!OT Atlanta has an impressive record and delivers first class productions for some of the world’s leading brands,” said Stuart DeMarais, Fairlight director of sales & marketing. “We’re pleased they’ve continued their support of Fairlight and chosen the Constellation systems for this major upgrade.”
According to Hall, R!OT Atlanta explored the entire market of audio consoles and returned to Fairlight for its reliability and functional firepower. “We spent many, many demo hours evaluating consoles,” said Hall, “and at the end of the day, Fairlight was the only one standing. We opened our doors in 1996 with two Fairlight MFX3+ consoles. Throughout the years they’ve been more dependable and powerful than we ever imagined. The DREAM Constellation is the next generation, and we look forward to continuing our long relationship with Fairlight.”
