New York City (March 21, 2005)–Music composition and mixing house Tonic has launched the Tonic Song Library (TSL). The premier collection of fully licensed songs from elite artists and songwriters was compiled by Tonic’s Emmy Award-winning composers Peter Fish and Andy Gundell. TSL gathers select lyrical songs by top songwriters–from street-level indie artists to Grammy Award-winners–in a streamlined, one-stop licensing package.
“The Tonic Song Library is a departure from most production music libraries, which are instrumental and oriented towards scoring,” said Fish. “With TSL, music supervisors, producers, and creative directors now have a resource to quickly locate and license extremely high quality songs, complete with lyrics and vocal tracks.”
TSL’s material is culled from extensive contacts that Fish and Gundell have developed after many years of music production for TV, commercials, film and other media. The first TSL release is a package of 10 CDs spanning five genres–pop, rock, alternative, R&B, and urban–with male and female CDs for each. TSL offers recordings without the high cost and logistical difficulties of obtaining hit song master and sync licenses.
As a bonus, an instrumental disc from a top artist will accompany each release. The bonus CD of TSL’s maiden collection showcases saxophone artist Andy Snitzer, whose solo records set the bar for inventiveness and creativity in contemporary jazz. Snitzer has performed with Eric Clapton, Beck, Naughty by Nature, Paul Simon, Dr. John, Christina Aguilera, The Rolling Stones, and Aretha Franklin.
“We’ve tapped into an excellent group of artists whose songs are worthy of broader exposure,” noted Gundell. “TSL carries the authentic vibe of talented people doing what they do best, writing songs in their genre of expertise.”
