Chicago (January 23, 2006)–The Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) has dual annual seven-week winter tours of the Eastern and Western USA which always excite audiences with metal-tinged takes on festive classics such as “The Carol of the Bells.” The two outings pack venues night after night, making the TSO a word of mouth phenomenon that grows exponentially year after year.
From day one, back in 1996, db Sound Image has brought the sound of the TSO to millions with EV gear, most recently with EV’s X-Array loudspeaker systems. A totoal of 16 Xf, 12 Xb and 16 Xn boxes are flown four deep and six wide at left and right, in conjunction with 8 X-Line Xsubs, powered by P3000 amplifiers. Sending sound to all those boxes is a Midas Heritage 3000 console on the West Coast tour, and both jaunts feature a Klark Teknik DN 6000 as well as DN 360 EQs.
“The show is big in every way,” said db Sound Image’s Todd Johnson, “and, with a rotating cast of multiple singers and instrumental soloists, has a broad dynamic range–from 80 dB to 105 dB, all across a wide range of musical styles. X-Array has been with the TSO since it was playing in small theatres, and it sounds just as good in the arenas. We simply added more boxes as the show grew, allowing us consistent sound quality from year to year without compromise. X-Array is also versatile in that it can be wrapped around a corner if necessary, which also helps when playing to 240-degree seating–it fits every room we play, works every night, and covers every seat with sound.”
