Markham, Ontario, Canada (December 20, 2006)–TC Applied Technologies Ltd. Has two new Firewire chips–DICE Jr and DICE Mini–now available in sample quantities, with mass production in March, 2007.
“We’re delighted to announce the arrival of DICE Jr and DICE Mini,” said Fred Speckeen, director of business development, TC Group A/S. “Both are small, low-cost, high-performance Firewire chips with features and performance that meet the most demanding MI and Pro Audio requirements. They were designed in close consultation with leading companies, and both chips share a variety of very useful features that support rapid, low-cost product designs. Inside both products you will find our renowned JetPLL, an unburdened ARM7 core, hardware-based 1394-compliant audio streaming, a 16 channel hardware mixer with peak detection, and a flexible and configurable I/O scheme.”
TCAT’s original DICE II Firewire chip was introduced in 2005 and can be found in leading Firewire-enabled products in both MI and Pro Audio. The combination of the original DICE II, the DICE Jr and the DICE Mini offers product designers a range of functionality, features and pricing that allows them to expand their use of Firewire across a wider range of products. All three chips share the same core driver and firmware, making it quick and easy for designers and, ultimately, end-users. TCAT’s ‘Microboard’ reference designs and evaluation modules were also created with the designer in mind, making it easy to begin working with the new chips.
DICE Jr and DICE Mini samples, reference designs and evaluation modules are available now. The chips will be available in mass production in March, 2007.
