Irvine, CA (August 26, 2005)–Three months after introducing sub-$250 universal fit earphones based on its pro custom-molded personal monitors, Ultimate Ears has released the Super.fi 3 Studio earphones–new $99.99 earpieces aimed at the consumer musician markets.
The new earphones utilize a proprietary, vented, single-speaker design that has been engineered to deliver full-spectrum sound plus a special form factor that securely seals the ear against external noise.
Ultimate Ears says that unique acoustic engineering and construction techniques give the Super.fi 3 Studio earpieces “the deep, feel-it-in-your-gut bass of less expensive single-diaphragm devices with the clear mids of higher-priced single-armature products,” while still offering crisp highs.
The shape and snug fit is said to be based on Ultimate Ears’ 10 years of experience in handcrafting earphones from silicone impressions of customers’ ears, yielding “maximum wearing comfort as well as 26 dB of noise isolation.” A flexible ear loop anchors the earphone in place and guides the cable behind the ear.
Each pair comes with a leather case, an earphone cleaning tool, and a 10-piece fit kit to adapt the earphones to different ear shapes and help users achieve the best seal against outside noise.
Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio earphones are currently available at Guitar Center and through Ultimate Ears’ website. The Super.fi line also offers two premium dual-speaker models with low- and high-frequency speakers in each ear. The $199.99 Super.fi 5 EB (Extended Bass), with 16 dB of noise isolation, is aimed at the aficionados of driving low end. The $249.99 Super.fi 5 Pro has more neutral audio signature, 26 dB of noise isolation, and a smaller exterior housing.
