New York, NY (November 6, 2007)--New York post house Ultra-Sound worked with Brave Street Productions to clean and mix the reality TV series America's Next Equestrian Star: Dressage. The show, which stars six-time Olympian Robert Dover, was shot on location at Dover's ranch in Florida.
Several different mics were used to capture the action and it was up to Ultra-Sound to clean up the dialog and smooth out the transitions between mics. Ron DiCesare, supervising sound editor for the project, and re-recording mixer Jennifer Arrowood turned to the Waves Restoration Bundle.
"It's definitely a very powerful group of plug-ins but it can only help with part of the job. Sometimes the less that is done to the sound file, the better it is. The idea was to keep the reality of the show intact. So, knowing when not to use the Waves Restoration Bundle was just as important as knowing how to use it," said DiCesare.
After the dialog was smoothed out and cleaned up, the music and effects were added in for the final mix to picture. Once the producer approved the shows mixes, the episodes were relayed back to tape and sent out to the station for airing.
"We were on a really tight deadline, and still managed to get the show out on time. It was certainly a team effort," said Arrowood.
The five one-hour episodes are airing on the FOX Reality Channel, with the final episode airing on November 16.
