Los Angeles, CA (April 27, 2010)–Vintage King Audio and Solid State Logic hosted a panel discussion featuring composers working in film, television and videogames at the Downtown Independent theatre in Los Angeles on April 22.
The evening began with a technology presentation by SSL’s Fadi Hayek, who offered an overview of the company’s hybrid analog/digital solutions for composers, including XLogic and Duende products as well as the SuperAnalogue Matrix and X-Desk consoles. Hayek concluded with a practical demonstration of the sonic differences between digital and analog summing using his remix of “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel, co-owner of SSL.
Hayek also moderated the evening’s panel discussion. Panelists included locally based composers Jim Lang, Cody Westheimer, Paul Dinletir, Charles Scott IV and Lennie Moore. They discussed their experiences composing music for TV, film and multimedia and the audio and composition tools that they use, and also offered advice for those wishing to break into the industry.
Attendee Jimi Englund won the evening’s raffle for an SSL Duende Mini v3 compact digital sound processor, which was presented by Hayek along with Jeff Ehrenberg and Alex Oana of Vintage King Audio.
