Austin (March 13, 2008)--For years, the place in Los Angeles to see up-and-coming bands has been the Viper Room, but with seemingly every up-and-comer in Austin this week for South By Southwest, what's a club to do? Go to Austin, it turns out.
As a result, The Viper Room In Austin finds the club transporting its Sunset Strip music experience to Texas, hosting four days of showcases that not only display some of the club's most prominent acts, but also feature the same distinct characteristics that fans have come to expect inside the legendary club. Aside from transporting a majority of its staff to Austin, the Viper Room has installed a sizable sound system based around a Dynacord rig and Midas consoles, making the system similar to the one in its Hollywood venue.
If you're in Austin and want to hear the system (oh, and a bunch of bands), tonight finds The Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash and Big Bang, Norway's biggest rock act (yes, there is such a thing), among others, playing. Friday finds Helmet and Nico Vega on the bill with other acts, and Saturday rounds it all out with the old school pop/rock of The Daylights and NYC faves The Leeds.
