Kuala Lumpur (October 17, 2006)–Architectural acoustics firm Studio 440, and technology design outfit, Visioneering Design Co., have teamed up to provide services to the Malaysian Ministry of Culture’s film production unit, Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia, generally known as FINAS, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur.
Seen at the ground-breaking ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are (l-r): FINAS Chairman Jins Shamsudin; Ron Lagerlof of Visioneering Design; Dr. Rais Yatim, Minister of Culture; Raja Fihir, RMZ Perunding Consultants; and Studio 440 architect George Newburn.Newburn and Lagerlof have been appointed by the Malaysian Ministry to design and oversee the construction and systems integration of a 15,000 sq. ft., ground-up facility in Kuala Lumpur, which will include a Dolby Premier Certified digital dubbing stage, screening room, two ADR stages, Foley stage, two audio post-production suites and various editorial support rooms. The project is slated for completion in Q1, 2008.
This prestigious appointment comes after a lengthy process that began nearly four years ago, requiring approval at several governmental levels and thorough qualification reviews, including letters of recommendation from Dolby offices in the UK and U.S.
The Studio 440 and Visioneering team have partnered on several other successful international projects, including Megacine, Rio de Janiero; Estudios Churubusco, Mexico City; Wei Yi Studios, Taipei, Taiwan; and CinemaPR, Puerto Rico.
