San Francisco, CA (October 21, 2009)–Women’s Audio Mission (WAM), a San-Francisco-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of women in the recording arts, has named Sarah Jones as its associate director. In her new role, Jones will help guide the growth of WAM’s educational programs for women and girls, through industry outreach, philanthropic partnerships and marketing programs.
“We are very pleased to have Sarah on board,” says WAM executive director Terri Winston. “Her broad audio industry experience and commitment to our vision are valuable assets at a time when WAM is poised for major expansion, with a key focus on our new studio and online training program.”
“I am excited to be joining such an amazing organization,” says Jones. “I’ve followed WAM’s progress over the years, and I’ve always been a huge a fan of the great work they do. I am honored to be a part of a group so committed to promoting diversity in the recording industry.”
Jones comes to WAM from Mix magazine, where she spent 14 years in various editorial positions, most recently in the role of editor-in-chief. She has Bachelor of Music degrees in Sound Recording Technology and Music Business from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and has been a flautist for 30 years.
