Huntingdon, U.K. (August 9, 2004)--Wharfedale Pro has begun to ship its family of Diamond Pro studio near-field monitors in both passive and active, biamped versions of the 8.1 and 8.2. This is the latest generation of the Diamond 8 family, with a heritage extending back more than 20 years.

With Diamond transducers housed in specially designed enclosures with a purpose-designed biamplifier package, the new Diamond Studio Pro-Active series is a complete and balanced system for both 2-channel and 5.1 multichannel reference monitoring. Magnetic shielding allows the units to be used in close proximity to CRT displays found in many of today's recording applications.

The Diamond Pro series has been designed by Wharfedale's engineers and handcrafted in its own factory. For this critical application, Wharfedale designers utilized a specially developed ultra-rigid Kevlar cone in the low-frequency driver resulting in top-notch transient response and linearity, with low distortion at high levels. Lightweight Kevlar is said to allow the Diamonds to maintain top performance through the crossover range, and at the same time to give wider and smoother coverage for accuracy in imaging.
