Buena Park, CA (March 25, 2011)–Yamaha of America does not expect “any significant impact” in its ability to supply products through its musical instrument, pro audio and consumer audio/video divisions because of the Japan earthquake and tsunami, the company announced.
“Yamaha has sufficient inventory in place that can bridge any short-term demand,” said Tom Sumner, senior VP of Yamaha Corp. of America. Nonetheless, he said, “we are still assessing the full impact on and the stability of our supply chain, and are taking the precaution of looking at alternative sources for components to minimize supply disruptions to our global customer base.”
The company’s immediate focus has been on verifying employee safety, he said, and the company has confirmed the safety of all of its personnel in Japan.
The company will “continue to closely monitor developments and will keep our retail and business-to-business customers informed on a regular basis if the circumstances change,” he said.
Yamaha Corp. also announced it will make relief donations of 10 million yen and will match donations made by employees.
