Buena Park, CA (October 6, 2004)–Yamaha Corporation of America has announced the creation of a new department within its Pro Audio & Combo (PAC) Division and several appointments from within its operations. The announcements were made by Tom Sumner, vice president and general manager.
The new Music Production department has been designed to align all Yamaha home recording and digital studio production products into a single department. It includes synthesizers (Motif ES and S Series), AW Series digital audio workstations, studio monitors, digital mixers (01X, 01V96 and 02R96), and all mLAN and USB computer music products and software. Products represented by the Music Production department are available through traditional and online music retail outlets.
Athan Billias has been appointed director of technology products, and is responsible for third party alliances, strategic planning for technology products, and will oversee the new Music Production department as marketing manager. He will be supported by product managers Avery Burdette and George Hamilton. The Pro Audio department is headed by marketing manager Wayne Hrabak, with support by John Schauer, product manager. The Professional Audio department will concentrate on SR analog mixers, speakers and amplifiers.
“The realignment within the PAC Division reflects a more streamlined market approach to better serve our Yamaha dealers and customer base,” stated Sumner. “We are fortunate to have managers who will bring not only years of experience, but a real vision for continued growth.”
The Commercial Audio Systems Division continues to operate separately under the direction of general manager Larry Italia, and represents the high-end commercial recording, production, system integration, broadcast and tour sound markets. Products such as the PM1D, PM5D and DM2000 are available through a dedicated contractor and sound company dealer network, with a separate sales and support team.
“Home recording and computer music production is a growing market with significant opportunities and an ever-increasing convergence of hardware and software,” stated Billias. “All of these Yamaha music production products connect together in different system configurations to meet a wide range of user needs. With mLAN connectivity and Studio Connections Recall technology, everything-including our synthesizers-are seamlessly integrated into the computer music production environment.”
