Pompton Plains, NJ (February 13, 2007)–Zaxcom’s Deva is the hard disk recorder behind three out of the five films being considered by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 2007 Academy Awards for achievement in sound mixing. The sound mixers for the films Blood Diamond, Dreamgirls and Flags of Our Fathers, all of whom used the Deva on the projects, are under consideration for the award.
“It is an honor for us that the majority of the films chosen for sound-mixing Oscar nominations by the Academy were produced with the Zaxcom Deva,” said Glenn Sanders, president of Zaxcom. “It truly demonstrates how the system can be applied to high-quality film production environments, and we’ve enjoyed seeing how effectively the Deva was used on these films. We’d like to extend our congratulations to Ivan Sharrock, Willie Burton, and Walt Martin for their excellent work and exciting nominations.”
The Zaxcom Deva, available as the eight-track Deva IV and 10-track Deva V, provides 24-bit multidisk, multiformat location recording with backup to DVD. The ability to background record multiple disks throughout the day saves precious time in feature film and episodic television production by allowing users to record all disk copies required by post at the same time as the original recordings.
Winners of the 2007 Academy Awards will be announced February 25 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
