Joe Stopka, Vice President of Sales and Business Development, TASCAM

Q: What is your new position, and what does it entail?
Vice President of Sales and Business Development. Elevated oversight and direction of our sales, Marketing and Product Direction for TASCAM business in the Americas (North, Central, South).

Q: How has your background prepared you for your new role?
Working with hundreds of Pro AV equipment manufacturers over the past 30 years has allowed me to build many long-term relationships in key market segments. This provides TASCAM the advantage of gaining potential business opportunities in a wider section of General Audio applications.

Q: What new marketing initiatives are we likely to see from the company?
More application-driven communications related to how our products are utilized. Our least-expensive handheld recorder can certainly used by a student from in a lecture hall, but then it can also be used by a professional sound designer. The application determines its professional capabilities.

Q: What are your short-and long-term goals?
Anyone responsible for driving revenues is going to say, “sell more products.” But to look at it even more strategically, it is to bring this iconic brand name back to the level of prominence it really deserves. That will eventually come through innovation in products and business practices. It’s a new day at TASCAM.

Q: What is the greatest challenge that you face?
It’s basically building momentum quickly. That includes all aforementioned areas—Sales, Marketing and Product Development. We have a small team with loads of talent. But we can always use more good people. That will be part of the next phase of change: getting the right people on the bus.
