Northbrook, IL (April 20, 2016)—AmpliVox Sound Systems may make portable Pas and other pro audio gear, but it also manufactures Mity-Meg Rechargeable Megaphones—a dozen of which it recently donated to the American Red Cross, with 10 earmarked for disaster relief teams and two for Red Cross events.
The American Red Cross, a non-government agency, responds to approximately 70,000 disasters in the United States every year, ranging from home fires that affect a single family, to hurricanes that affect tens of thousands, to earthquakes that impact millions. In these events, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, health, and mental health services to help families and entire communities get back on their feet.
The SB602R Mity-Meg is a lightweight, weather-resistant design unit, delivering sound coverage of up to a mile with talk, whistle, and siren modes.
“We are grateful for the generous gift from AmpliVox Sound Systems,” said Harley Jones, regional disaster officer, American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois. “This technology will be useful when our volunteers are delivering relief items to communities affected by disasters like tornadoes and floods, and also during preparedness activities, such as our smoke alarm installation rallies.”
