Audio Offerings at The Photography Show & The Video Show Virtual Festival

As this year’s UK convention The Photography Show & The Video Show moves online, audio pros and content creators worldwide can get in on the fun for free.

The Photography ShowUnited Kingdom (September 11, 2020)—Every year, The Photography Show & The Video Show in the UK draw tens of thousands of professionals and enthusiasts to walk the aisle and discover the latest not only in photography but also content creation and video production. With the pandemic, this year’s edition has moved online, and in turn, is now providing anyone in the world with internet access the opportunity to attend the event, September 20-21, 2020. Among the 130 exhibitors, and 170 expert talks and demos, are also a number of audio-related workshops and exhibitors, and with it being a free event, there’s no reason not to check it out

Over the two days, you’ll get access to over 100 never before seen tutorials, exclusive product launches and demos; plus the chance to browse and chat to more than 130 exhibitors and make those all-important choices about what’s next for your kit or your business. Plus, you’ll be able to take advantage of a host of special show deals – all from the comfort of your own home.

Among the expert talks, for instance, is “Audio for video” on September 20 at 11:55 BST. Hosted by Alex Theakston, UK Brand Manager for RØDE Microphones and an independent Podcaster and YouTuber, the crash course aims to teach users everything they need to know to achieve professional audio on set and in the field. Theakston will cover microphone types, microphone placement, camera quirks and settings, and the basic concepts of audio processing.

The following day, pro wedding filmmaker Emma Wilson will host “How to set up multiple cameras and audio devices for a wedding ceremony” at 11:20 BST, discussing the challenges of filming a wedding with multiple cameras and audio equipment for the ceremony. Wilson will explain the choices she makes and how they impact her final product.

Make sure to check out the Main Stage sessions, where there are six programmes to choose from. Out & About covers photography and filmmaking outdoors, and Create & Motivate includes interviews with David Yarrow, Sarah Waiswa and Doug Allan, and a live session with Chase Jarvis. Editing & Post-production features a tutorial from Julieanne Kost, while Connect covers essential business and marketing guides. There are also programmes dedicated to Photo Skills and Video Skills.

Visitors can browse the Galleries (created by SheClicks, Gurushots, AOP and SPi Awards teams) or pop to the Analogue Spotlight to get some insight into the return to non-digital photography. Perhaps then navigate to the Exhibitor Academy for some fantastic talks from the Canon Stage, Nikon School and Sony Alpha Academy, or to the Burst Mode Hub to see brand new gear reviewed by our experts.
