Los Angeles, CA (February 19, 2013)—The Cinema Audio Society presented its 49th annual CAS Awards on Saturday, February 16, honoring outstanding achievement in sound mixing for film and television.
The awards ceremony, held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, also honored production sound mixer Chris Newman, CAS, with the CAS Career Achievement Award. In addition, Oscar nominated actress Anne Hathaway presented the CAS Filmmaker Award to Academy Award-winning director Jonathan Demme.
The event also included a tribute to Stefan Kudelski, inventor of the Nagra tape recorder, presented by Oscar winner Tomlinson Holman, CAS.

The 9th annual CAS Technical Achievement Award in the Production category was presented to Sound Devices for the company's 664 field production mixer with recorder. Dolby's Atmos won in the Post Production category.
