Atlantic City, NJ (September 1, 2011)--The Boardwalk Beer Garden at Caesars Atlantic City features a new music system with several JBL PRX615M powered monitor loudspeakers.
Aurora Sound and Light Design installed the system, under the direction of Ian Hoffer. “We’re specialists in the design and implementation of nightlife systems, and the majority of our work is club installations,” noted Hoffer. “The indoor portion of the Boardwalk Beer Garden was the site of a former club and already had a traditional sound system in place, but when the owners (Dusk Management Group) decided to create the Boardwalk Beer Garden featuring an outdoor seating and performance area, they needed additional sound reinforcement. I suggested that we use JBL PRX615M monitors to be evenly spaced along the beer garden, which is a long rectangular area outside of Caesars.”
The PRX615M features a 15-inch Differential Drive dual-voice-coil woofer and neodymium compression driver mounted to a 90º by 50º horn, all driven by a built-in dual 500-watt (1,000 watts total) Crown Audio amplifier.
“The PRX615M was ideal for this application,” Hoffer said. “It fit the size and sound coverage requirements, and since it’s self-powered, compact and weighs less than 50 pounds, the speakers are easy to move in and out. We also installed AC power and XLR audio receptacles next to each speaker to facilitate easy setup and takedown by the bar staff.”
“The speakers have performed great so far,” Hoffer concluded. “They’re easily portable, and durable, which was a primary consideration for this application, and most importantly, they sound fantastic.”
