Los Angeles, CA (August 22, 2014)—The inaugural Pro Sound News Awards, recognizing the industry’s best movers and shakers, will be held October 11, 2014, at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The awards event will celebrate excellence in Live Sound, Recording, Installed Sound, Post Production and Broadcasting, with a special Lifetime Achievement Award presentation. And already, the nomination process has begun!
Live Sound has been described as “the art of compromise,” yet certain individuals and production companies stand out, providing no-compromise fidelity even though they only have one chance to get it right. Here we honor the best at flying without a net.
Tour Sound Production
Music Festival Production
Successful studio recordings will be played again and again, providing ample opportunity for both excellence and less-than-stellar production quality to be scrutinized. We celebrate those individuals and facilities that enable and encourage superlative artist expression and sonic excellence.
New Studio Design
Fixed installation sound has to be flexible enough for disparate applications in the same facility, and complementary to the audience experience. This category recognizes those individuals and their designs that represent the peak of sound design expertise.
Theater Sound Design
Sports Venue Design
House Of Worship Design
POST PRODUCTION & BROADCAST AUDIO
Film and broadcast television/cable productions are considered visual media, but without a sound component, would be considered incomplete. Here we applaud facilities, productions and individual achievements in completing the picture with audio.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Our industry has its household names, individuals that are known by all to be the best of our best, solidifying their contribution over decades of work. The combined NewBay Media professional audio group of editors has collaborated on the selection of one such individual for this special Lifetime Achievement Award.
The lobbying period is open. All manufacturers, service providers and individuals with an interest in the professional audio industry are invited to nominate candidates deemed deserving of recognition within the Awards categories—themselves, facilities, projects and events. Please visit www.psnawards.com for information on how to lobby for your nominees. Lobbying will stay open until Monday, September 15th.
The finalists for each category will be presented to a panel of up to 100 judges from across the wide spectrum of the pro-audio industry. These judges ultimately will choose the winners of each Pro Sound News Award (with the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award).
The PSN Awards are backed by industry leading NewBay Media magazines Pro Sound News, Pro Audio Review, Mix, Sound & Video Contractor, Music Festival Business and Rental & Staging.
