Cumberland, RI (February 9, 2012)—Numark Industries has acquired Sonivox, a software company specializing in developing virtual instruments and synthesis technologies.
Founded in 1993, Sonivox has designed and developed music software technologies and applications for desktop and laptop computers as well as mobile devices. Sonivox’s work can be heard in a wide array of products, including its own line of soundware and virtual instruments available for Mac and Windows PCs and its embedded music technologies found in music synthesizers, mobile devices and more.
Sonivox’s main areas of development include a retail line of premium virtual instruments for musicians, composers and producers, and its Embedded Audio System, a full featured audio synthesis solution for mobile applications and devices such as iPhone, iPad, Android devices and other embedded architectures.
In addition to the continued development of Sonivox-branded products, Numark plans to leverage the company’s technologies between Numark’s brands, including Numark, Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional and ION Audio.
“Sonivox fits our vision of how music is made today, and will be made in the future,” said Jack O’Donnell, president and CEO of Numark Industries. “We’ve been at the forefront of the computer music revolution, developing controllers that seamlessly integrate with a wide array of music software. Sonivox adds to our toolbox and allows us to develop even more fully integrated hardware/software systems. The recent launch of our MPC series of integrated hardware & software music production tools is a perfect example of how Sonivox’s library of soundware and software expertise will help create tremendous value for musicians, producers and performers.”
