Symetrix has promoted Scott Wrege to the role of U.S. national sales director, where he will be responsible for implementing sales programs. Wrege joined the company in 2019 as western regional sales manager, a role where he grew sales in eight different territories. He previously owned his own rep firm, Pacific AV, which represented AV lines in California, Southern Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii and received multiple achievement awards. Wrege received a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications sales and management and a master’s degree in information and communications sciences from Ball State University.
Also in a new role at Symetrix is industry veteran Benjamin Olswang, who was appointed director of product management. He will be responsible for managing products through their entire lifecycle. With more than 19 years of experience in the professional audio industry, including 11 years in product management and four years in engineering program management, Olswang was most recently a product management consultant. He has a BS in electrical engineering from Northwestern University and a MSc in digital signal processing from Kings College London.
KV2 Audio has named Paul Freudenberg to the position of business development director, U.S. He brings with him experience derived from a career that spans more than 25 years with pro audio manufacturers including L-Acoustics, AKG, BSS Audio and Aphex Systems. Freudenberg is charged with the task of setting up direct distribution offices in Los Angeles, while adding to market development activities being conducted by PLUSMUSIC US, which continues to work with KV2 Audio as a VAR in the U.S. market and independent sales representative (Northeast region).
Calrec has appointed Helen Jones as its new operations manager. Jones, who is rejoining the broadcast console manufacturer, will ensure manufacturing and operations meet the demands of the business for quality, on-time delivery and team development. Jones has extensive project management experience and, as a former engineer at Calrec, has real-world experience with broadcast customer needs and requirements.
Auerbach, Pollock, Friedlander
Auerbach, Pollock, Friedlander has promoted Barbara J. Wohlsen to the role of associate. Wohlsen joined the company’s New York office in 2015 as a technical designer, with production management and technical production experience in opera, dance, theater and classical music. Prior to 2015, she served as the director of production for New York City Opera, both at Lincoln Center and at a variety of venues across New York City. She has also held production management positions at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Her technical experience comes primarily as a master electrician and includes six seasons with Glimmerglass Opera.
Nicki Fisher, Clear-Com’s EMEA sales director, has been named chair of the board for Rise Organization, an advocacy membership group that supports women working in the global broadcast technology sector. Its mission is to ensure a diverse, gender-balanced workforce across engineering, technical operations, sales, marketing and business roles. As chair, she will be involved in the decision-making processes that go into program development, including networking events, seminars, the annual mentoring program, as well as overseeing the global advisory boards and business functions of the group. Fisher will also hold a dual role within Rise as a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) ambassador in UK-based schools.
L-Acoustics has named a dedicated sales and application team to help build its presence in Middle East and India regions. Chris Mead, sales manager for the Middle East, India and East Africa, will build relationships and develop business in the region, while Rahul Samuel, application engineer for the Middle East and India, will provide technical support, design assistance and training to partners and projects throughout the area. Mead, who has more than 15 years of experience in the UK and the Middle East, began his career designing and implementing AV solutions for end users, and most recently provided technical support and developed sales in the Middle East region for Meyer Sound. Samuel is an award-winning live sound engineer with more than 15 years of experience as an acoustic consultant, FOH/monitor and system engineer, system designer and educator. He most recently represented Meyer Sound, providing technical support in the region.
David Carroll Associates
Professional AV/technology systems integrator David Carroll Associates has expanded its operations with the appointment of industry veteran Greg Kirkland to oversee the company’s new offices in Southern California. Kirkland brings more than 30 years’ experience in live and installed AV markets to DCA, most recently having served as technical consultant and ambassador for pro audio loudspeaker manufacturer L-Acoustics. Prior to L-Acoustics, Kirkland spent several years overseeing the technical sales team for VUE Audiotechnik.
