Hamburg, Germany (December 27, 2012)—The tale of fighter Rocky Balboa may be an All-American tale, but the new musical based on the classic 1976 film, Rocky, recently has its world premiere in Hamburg, Germany, complete with the film’s writer/star, Sylvester Stallone, in attendance. Audio technology from Salzbrenner Stagetec Mediagroup was used for sound reinforcement, monitoring and audio networking.
Inside the Hamburg TUI Operettenhaus theatre, where the show is being staged, the production uses an Aurus console with 40 faders and a full complement of DSP for the FOH mix, while a Crescendo console is used for monitoring and a Nexus network with a Star and four Base Devices connects it all together
"Sound quality, reliability and flexibility were the three main reasons for opting for the Mediagroup mixing and routing technology”, says Andreas Hammerich, head of the sound department at Stage Entertainment Germany, the show’s production company.
Tony-award winning sound designer Peter Hylenski tackled creating the show’s sound system, and noted, “Aurus, Crescendo and Nexus sound quality is unrivalled in the digital console market.” Hylenski’s sound engineer for the premiere, Peppe Andersson, added, “The desks let me control everything that matters; for example,l I can control the digital gains for the FOH and monitoring consoles independently, although both consoles operate in one network and share the same resources.”
