Seattle, WA (October 19, 2015)–In a move that portends a shift from focusing solely on software, Tracktion has acquired Seattle-based, audio hardware manufacturer, 2JW Design.
Going forward, the department will focus on the design and manufacture of limited run, recording products that will be manufactured in the U.S. The first of these products, a high-end computer interface called Copper Reference, is due in 2016.
Described in a statement as “essentially a custom design shop,” 2JW Design has previously created and manufactured professional audio gear for customers such as Guitar Center and Microsoft. Tracktion is known for its eponymous DAW software, as well as other products such as its Master Mix plugin and an upcoming virtual instrument, BioTek.
“We’ve been relying on 2JW’s engineering talent throughout the development of our hardware program,” explained Tracktion co-founder, Dave Christenson. “Merging Tracktion and 2JW into a single company is intended to streamline operations and speed products to market. After a couple years of close cooperation, we’re pleased to finally bring everyone together under one roof, so to speak.”
