Felton, CA (September 22, 2016)—Alcons Audio has added to its family of reference immersive sound systems with the debut of its new CRMSC-SRHOR surround, a 2-way passive-filtered full range loudspeaker, designed to meet all requirements of immersive cinema surround sound formats.
The CRMSC-SRHOR system consists of one RBN202 pro-ribbon driver for HF and a vented 6.5” mid-bass for LF reproduction. The CRMSC-SRHOR HF section has an 400 W peak power input, enabling a 1:16 dynamic range with reportedly up to 90% less distortion from 1 kHz to beyond 20 kHz.
The patented 90-degrees horizontal dispersion of the RBN202 is said to provide a stable coverage to a larger number of seats in the auditorium.
The CRMSC-SRHOR is designed as matching surround system for the CRMSC Cinema Reference Monitoring system, or in any small to medium sized immersive surround system: By utilizing identical MHF components, in a horizontal arrangement, this can result in a wide and uniform sound stage. The CRMSC-SRHOR can also be used as main screen system in smaller applications, with low-frequency support.
The 15-degree slanted enclosure baffle together with the optional ACO color option, provides for low profile wall or ceiling mounting.
