New York, NY (November 4, 2015)–Avid introduced Pro Tools | Dock, a portable surface that gives audio and music professionals intelligent studio control, at the 2015 AES Convention. It will be available in early 2016.
Working together with an iPad running the free Pro Tools | Control app, Pro Tools | Dock is powered by the Avid MediaCentral Platform and is based on the touchscreen workflows of the Pro Tools | S6 and the hybrid touchscreen/hardware control of the Avid Artist | Control surface. Users can navigate large projects and access any track on the iPad touchscreen.
Users can work with their favorite EUCON-enabled DAWs and video editing tools, including Pro Tools, Media Composer, Logic Pro X, Cubase, and Premiere Pro, working on a Pro Tools project then switching to any other EUCON-compatible audio and video software—in sequence or in parallel—in seconds.
Pro Tools | Dock will connect with a user’s iPad and the free Pro Tools | Control iOS app, providing control of audio and video projects. The app offers touch controls and visual feedback to improve efficiency. Users can access key commands, shortcuts, functions, and UI elements without clicking a mouse, and create custom soft keys to perform most Pro Tools functions.
With Soft Keys, users can click through frequently performed editing and mixing tasks or adapt the Dock to their workflow by programming macros to perform more complex tasks. Pro Tools | Dock also provides eight touch-sensitive Soft Knobs that extend the functionality, enabling users to interact with whatever knob set they’ve selected in the app.
