Las Vegas, NV (June 6, 2018)—JBL Professional has announced the new VTX A8 dual 8” line array loudspeaker and companion B18 single 18” subwoofer at InfoComm
For VTX A8, new transducers were custom-engineered by JBL to integrate more drivers into a smaller, lighter cabinet for a compact footprint. As a result, the VTX A8’s 8” neodymium low-frequency woofer is based around JBL’s 4th-generation Differential Drive technology, featuring a dual-voice coil, dual-gap configuration.
The VTX A8 sports two JBL 2423K 2” compression drivers found in the larger VTX A12, each combining the compression drive, phasing plug and line array waveguide in a single part. The loudspeaker’s 110-degree dispersion pattern goes down to 350 Hz, and is intended for small- and mid-size venues, front fills and similar applications.
The VTX A8 shares the VTX A12’s rigging mechanism, suspension system, dimensions and Performance Manager software, and numerous accessory options expand the VTX A8’s mounting, integration and installation capabilities.
Meanwhile, the VTX B18 features JBL’s new 2288 single 18” woofer, based around JBL’s patented 4th-generation Differential Drive technology and patented SlipStream double-flared exponential low-frequency port design, intended to improve airflow and reduce audible turbulence.
The B18 shares the industrial design of the JBL’s VTX A-Series products and has the same width and suspension hardware as the VTX A8, allowing the two products to be used together.
Both the VTX B18 and VTX A8 adopt the VTX A Series full-face powder- and zing-coated grille design, and have an Ingress Protection rating of IP55.
The JBL A8 and B18 will be available from HARMAN distributors worldwide in September, 2018.
