At NAMM: Blue Releases Hummingbird

Blue Microphones has introduced Hummingbird, a Class A small-diaphragm microphone sporting an adjustable pivoting head that can rotate 180 degrees, allowing the mic to be positioned at any angle without adjusting the stand.

Anaheim, CA (January 22, 2015)—Blue Microphones has introduced Hummingbird, a Class A small-diaphragm microphone sporting an adjustable pivoting head that can rotate 180 degrees, allowing the mic to be positioned at any angle without adjusting the stand.

Hummingbird features a diaphragm based on Blue’s B1 capsule, reportedly “ultra-responsive” and capable of delivering extended frequency response, making it intended for studio and stage use on drum overheads, acoustic guitar, strings, harp and other instruments with fast transients .

Featuring a pressure gradient cardioid capsule based on Blue’s “B1” capsule and a proprietary Class A, fully discrete circuit, Hummingbird has no ICs in its signal path in an effort to achieve maximum detail and the lowest possible noise floor. The microphone comes with a rugged, protective carrying case, along with a mic clip and foam wind screen, and will be available spring 2015 at authorized Blue retailers.
