High Wycombe, U.K. (April 9, 2012)—Focusrite has premiered its ISA Two, the latest addition to the ISA family of microphone preamps and audio processors.
The ISA Two is a dual-mono, transformer-based mic preamplifier that features two of the company’s ISA-range mic/line/instrument preamps, which provide +80 dB of gain. Each channel has switchable balanced insert points, variable high-pass filter and variable input impedance.
The ISA (Input Signal Amplifier) microphone preamplifier features the Lundahl LL1538 input transformer and bespoke Zobel network filter. In addition, there is a variable cutoff high-pass filter; 18 dB/octave high-pass filter with continuously variable cutoff from 16 to 420 Hz; selectable input impedance; four input impedance settings; separate instrument and line inputs; DI inputs on the front panel, TRS line inputs on the back; and a dedicated, switchable per-channel insert point.
Each channel has comprehensive gain and trim controls, and switches for engaging phantom power, phase invert, the balanced insert points and the high-pass filter. Metering is provided by a pair of eight-step LED arrays, which reportedly provide visual status on the signal, while a calibration knob on the rear panel enables users to line up their analog level to A-D converters.
