High Wycombe, England (June 1, 2016)—Touted as “the number one selling range of audio interfaces in the world,” Focusrite’s Scarlett series is now available worldwide in its second incarnation. While the I/O count of every interface remains the same, Generation 2 Scarlett USB audio interfaces feature a number of improvements including Focusrite’s fastest USB performance yet: a reported roundtrip latency measurement as low as 2.74ms.
The range features six interfaces and two studio pack bundles: from the 2-in/2-out single mic preamp Scarlett Solo up to the rack-mounted 18-in/20-out Scarlett 18i20. Aesthetic improvements include new metal gain controls and a sleeker red metal chassis. Inside, the latest Scarlett mic preamp now features a reportedly more even gain structure, while its instrument input has been redesigned with increased headroom. Other improvements include analogue protection circuitry across both the inputs and the outputs and series-wide operation at sample rates up to 192kHz.
In other news, Scarlett 2nd generation interfaces will ship with Avid Pro Tools|First. Named the “Focusrite Creative Pack,” this exclusive offering features the free version of the Pro Tools and 12 additional plug-ins, including the Eleven Lite for guitar amp emulations and Tape Echo classic analog delay emulation. Focusrite reports that they will continue to work closely with Avid to ensure that all new Scarlett interfaces are compatible with each new version of Pro Tools. Also provided are Ableton Live Lite, Softube’s Time and Tone bundle, the Focusrite Red Plug-In Suite, 2GB of Loopmasters samples, and more.
