Modena, Italy (January 6, 2015)—IK Multimedia has released iRig Mic Field, a compact, stereo digital microphone for field recording on iOS devices.
Designed to be used for both video and audio projects, the mic connects to iPhones, iPads or iPods via the Lightning connector socket, capturing sound at 44.1/48kHz via two cardioid electret condenser capsules and a 24-bit “audiophile-grade” A/D converter. The mic has a 115 dB maximum SPL rating and built in low-noise, high-definition preamp. Other features include a thumbwheel gain control, an audio-out jack for real-time headphone monitoring, a multi-color LED input level indicator for visual monitoring, and a protective carrying pouch.
To better preserve the stereo image while recording audio for video, iRig Mic Field features a rotatable patent-pending design, allowing it to be rotated 90 degrees and locked in one of two positions for an accurate stereo image in both landscape and portrait modes.
With the iRig MicField’s release, IK is updating its iRig Recorder app, allowing users to record, edit, process and share their audio. Nonetheless, iRig Mic Field also works with a variety of other apps including Apple’s GarageBand and iMovie, and iOS Voice Memo and Camera.
