New York (July 27, 2012)—IK Multimedia and Audyssey have debuted their ARC 2 room correction system for DAWs.
The update of ARC (Advanced Room Correction System) includes a measurement microphone, measurement software and a correction plug-in for most DAWs. ARC measures a room using the included measurement microphone and software, and then generates an algorithm to provide a correction of the room’s acoustic problems; that in turn can be applied to a mix using the included plug-in.
For ARC 2, Audyssey has updated its technology to create MultEQ XT32, which reportedly provides enhanced resolution across the frequency spectrum, including a reputed 4 times greater resolution in the lower frequencies. The measurement process has also been streamlined, as the new MultEQ XT32 algorithm in ARC 2 requires seven measurements for the software to calculate corrections to a listening environment.
ARC 2 also now includes an “Alternate References” feature, which is said to allow users to shape the sound of the monitoring setup to simulate speakers like LCD TVs, club PA systems, car audio systems, radios and so forth. Additionally, a revised Monitor Control panel interface includes a big main volume knob to set listening levels; a Dim switch with an adjustable level; a Mute switch; and a listening mode selector that can be toggled between standard Stereo, Mono or Side for quick reference checks.
