Salt Lake City, UT (November 24, 2009)-Lexicon has updated the software to its PCM96 and PCM96 Surround processors to make them compatible with Pro Tools 8 and Mac OS X 10.5.7. In addition, software version 220.127.116.11 represents an effort towards the improvement of streaming audio and control functionality of both systems.
“This new software update emphasizes Lexicon’s commitment to provide PCM96 and PCM96 Surround users with regular software updates that expand DAW and Mac OS X support, along with providing enhancements to improve software performance and make the system more stable and reliable,” said Randy Garrett, director of marketing for Lexicon. “With this software update, we have taken the industry’s best processors, and made them even better.”
Featuring an array reverb algorithms with related delays and effects, the single-rack-space PCM96 and PCM96 Surround processors integrate into a studio as a control-only DAW insert or FireWire streaming hardware plug-in. The updated software reportedly has been optimized to be less processor-intensive when using the hardware plug-in functionality, and the Configuration display has been upgraded to handle multiple PCM96 and PCM96 Surround processors.
“As a daily user of the PCM96, I can tell you that it is a dramatic improvement,” said one Beta user. “I have noticed that the load time for the PCM96 plug-in is lightning-fast, the latency is greatly decreased and the overall burden on my system is greatly diminished.”
