Backnang Germany (September 15, 2020)—d&b audiotechnik has introduced its new installation loudspeaker—the 44S loudspeaker. Housed in a flush-mountable cabinet, the compact point source loudspeaker is intended for use in a variety of nearfield applications, with the aim of helping designers and installers fit a loudspeaker source where they need it, even when there’s little room.
The two-way passive loudspeaker cabinet measures 128 x 390 x 150 mm (5 x 15.3 x 5.9-inch) in size and houses 2 x 4.5” neodymium LF drivers and 2 x 1.25” HF dome tweeters, delivering a frequency response of between 90 Hz – 17 kHz.
The 44S sports a waveguide and baffle design intended to provide horizontal dispersion down to the lower frequencies while being tightly focused vertically, providing a tight 90° x 30° dispersion pattern to help direct sound to specific spaces.
The asymmetric cabinet design and the optional back box supplies additional flexibility, allowing adjustments of +/- 20º in 5° increments, accommodating different listening heights. A rotatable waveguide extends this to both horizontal and vertical positioning. Paired with d&b audiotechnik 10D or 30D installation amplifiers, the 44S can provide 121 dB and123 dB output, respectively.
“We at d&b are very proud to showcase our ongoing commitment to the installation market with the launch of this new product,” said Wolfgang Schulz, d&b product manager. “At a time when the market is challenged more than ever, it is important for us to bring flexible, multi-function solutions to the industry.”
