Woodstock, CT (November 20, 2019)—The new software update Rational Acoustics Smaart v8.4 has been released, marking the latest edition of the long-running software for measuring signals’ frequency content and electrical and electro-acoustic systems’ responses.
The Rational Acoustics Smaart v8.4 update includes a number of new feature additions, interface modifications and bug fixes and is recommended for all Smaart v8 users. Building up Smaart 8’s SPL monitoring capability, v8.4 is now a full-featured SPL monitoring solution in addition to its use for Real Time Frequency and Impulse Response Mode measurement.
Some of the new features include a new set of SPL data logging and interface improvements; a new Web browser interface for remotely viewing inputs that are actively logging SPL; 64-bit support for MacOS Catalina; new hotkeys for averaging dialogs; and performance enhancements.
“SPL monitoring has become an increasingly important component of modern live sound engineering,” says Rational Acoustics product manager Chris Tsanjoures. “We have spent a great deal of time and energy creating an entire comprehensive SPL monitoring suite within Smaart v8. That, combined with a host of other feature additions and improvements, makes 8.4 a really significant update.”
The Rational Acoustics Smaart v8.4 Release Overview features a complete list of the update’s features and bug fixes—as well as instructions for updating—can be found in the support section of the Rational Acoustics website.
Rational Acoustics relocated its U.S. headquarters earlier this year, expanding to accommodate growth in personnel, sales and training. The new HQ, located at 32 Crabtree Lane in Woodstock, CT, houses Rational’s administration, sales, product development and warehouse operations as well as a new in-house Smaart training center. At 5,700 square feet, the new building is nearly three times larger than Rational’s previous offices.
