Chicago, IL (May 5, 2021)—Zeppelin Design Labs has updated its long-running contact microphone with the introduction of the Cortado MkIII, intended for use in sound design, music recording, and venue sound reinforcement.
Intended to capture the ‘hidden’ sounds in the solid world around us, the Cortado MkIII features a sensitive piezo sensor, phantom-powered preamp circuit, built-in -10 dB pad and Bass Boost for extended low end response, all housed within a steel enclosure.
The sensor head attaches to most surfaces with clamp, tape or putty, and is tethered to the preamp chassis with a 6’ (2m) shielded cable. An available attachment accessory kit includes a variety of clamps and adhesives to easily attach the Cortado, temporarily or permanently, to most any object.
Contact mics are often used to provide added depth to sound design, capturing the audio conduction of solid objects; accordingly, while applicable to traditional recording in studios and such, the type of mic is commonly used for broadcasts like sports.
The Cortado MkIII is available with a $159 MSRP.
